Day 1 - Anti Bully Workshop (for kids and parents*)
Standing up to bullies is not about beating them up. It’s not even about knowing how to beat them up. Overcoming bullies is about having the confidence to be able to say: “I am not afraid of you!” This confidence comes from your belief that what you just said is true. That you are not afraid, because you can back yourself up.
Did you know that:
- 90% of 4th through 8th graders report being victims of bullying.
- It is estimated that 160,000 children miss school every day due to fear of attack or intimidation by other students.
- Suicide rates among 10 to 14-year-olds have grown more than 50 percent over the last three decades.
- Most bullying is not primarily physical.
These are trends that only we as parents can change. But doing so isn’t accomplished by just hoping it “won’t happen to us.” It’s accomplished by taking action now, by being proactive and by taking the steps that give your child the highest skills to succeed at life!
Day 1 is focused on answering the following questions…
- Why are some people (kids, colleagues, bosses, etc.) bullies?
- What are the signs that your child is being bullied?

- What are some signs your child my be a bully?
- What are the long term effects of being bullied?
- What is the single most important skill in dealing with bullies??
…and on providing the following skills:
- Finding your voice and standing up for yourself and others…
- How to help someone else who is being bullied…
- Turning tension into trust with friends and co-workers…
- Physical and verbal skills to prevent and deal with conflict…
*The day will begin at 8am for kids. The last hour and a half (1:30pm – 3pm) will be for adults and kids together. This time is critical for parents who want to learn better skills to help their children deal with conflict.
